POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of an Underwriting Technician is to support the flow of submission, policy, and mail activity throughout the underwriting department. The primary responsibility is to ensure accurate entry and timely distribution of new business submissions. Additional responsibilities include: labeling and filing policy folders, packaging policies, replenishing policy packaging and claim packet materials, managing agency mailboxes, routing miscellaneous mail documents to internal staff members, setting-up and distributing large loss analyses, and processing renewal notice letters.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Enter new business submissions into the software system in an accurate and timely manner, confirm and process duplicate submissions according to first-in procedures, and distribute submissions to Associate Underwriters in preparation of Underwriter review. Complete experience modification, merit and DNBi research during new business submission preparation.

  • Label and file active, cancelled, and new business policies according to procedures.

  • Package policies according to procedures and guidelines. Manage and replenish policy packaging and claim packet materials

  • Manage agency mailboxes by establishing additional boxes for agency appointments and oversee the mailing of agency correspondence on a regular basis. Route miscellaneous departmental policy-related mail to the appropriate staff members.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school diploma or GED required. Six months to one year experience in an office setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One year experience in using Microsoft Office computer applications, including internet search engines and proficiency in Microsoft Word.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, copiers, fax machines, and calculators.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet established timelines and deadlines.

  • Attention to detail in all work output.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
