POSITION SUMMARY
This is a remote, home-based position where the selected candidate will work from their home in the Grand Rapids, MI area. The position will provide Underwriting support for the states of Michigan and Northern Indiana.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the Select Underwriter is to execute the strategic initiatives and financial goals of the Underwriting Department in support of the Company’s revenue and profitability objectives and overall business plan. . This position provides focused customer service and support for all commercial underwriting transactions within delegated authority, specifically focused on accounts within the Select Business Unit book of business. This position supports the Company’s revenue and profitability objectives and overall business plan. Additional responsibilities include providing support for team building activities, profitability studies, program summaries and other special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Business or related field and at least 3 years of insurance underwriting experience (preferably in workers’ compensation). A CPCU designation and 8 years of industry related experience can be substituted for the degree. Additional requirements include but are not limited to advanced analytical skills, working experience with MS Office applications, excellent communication skills and the ability to cultivate positive agency relationships.
